Astigmatism // Know Your Eyes

Ever since I was little and started having regular eye tests, I have never needed glasses. Last November, I went along for my regular eye test as normal, but this time, my eyes had changed and for the first time ever, I needed glasses. The optician told me that my eyes had gone more rugby ball shaped rather than football shaped, and that's why my vision was blurry. I picked out my glasses and didn't really think much more of it. Recently, I decided to research it and see what the cause and name was for 'rugby ball' shaped eyes. It is called 'Astigmatism'.

Astigmatism is a common eye problem that affects your ability to see things close up and further away. Unlike short sightedness (which only affects distance vision) and long sightedness (which only affects close-up vision), astigmatism affects both distance and close vision. Astigmatism can make a multitude of tasks difficult, so I have to wear my glasses when I'm reading, writing, on my phone, on the computer, watching TV, and when I learn to drive I will have to wear them. She basically said I have to wear them when doing anything I concentrate on!

Astigmatism is a refractive error caused by an imperfection in the eye. This imperfection changes the way your eye focuses the light rays that pass into it. The light that enters your eye focuses on two places, rather than one, so you don't have one clear image, which makes objects at all distances look blurry.

Astigmatism is normally and was traditionally corrected by glasses and contacts. However, people can now get laser eye surgery to correct this imperfection.

Remember to get your eyes checked regularly so they don't get worse if you do need glasses. I haven't really worn mine since I got them, and I feel like my vision is getting worse. So I will now be wearing them properly as I want my eyes to hopefully correct themselves or atleast not get any worse!

Tips and Tricks // Beauty

Hello beauties.I hope your all ok! Just a quick post today! Everybody likes to look good and feel good about themselves, so in todays post I thought I would share with you some beauty tips and tricks to help you along the way.

Putting your freshly painted nails in ice cold water will help harden and dry them quicker.

Twist and dry your hair from root to tip for simple, pretty beach waves.

Sleep on a silk pillowcase, it does wonders for your skin and hair.

To get super smooth legs, shave them, use an olive oil and sugar scrub, and then shave them again. It will remove dead skin cells that you didn't even realize you had! Leaving you with silky smooth legs.

Freeze Aloe Vera gel in an ice cube tray and rub them on sunburn to sooth and cool it and to help relieve the pain.

Rub Vaseline on your pulse points before spraying on perfume to make it last longer.

Whenever you wear a face-mask, place cucumber on your eyes. The cucumber will revitalise your skin, help with dark circles and help reduce swelling and puffiness!

Drink plenty of water! It will keep you hydrated and leave your skin glowing.

Do you have any beauty tips or tricks to share? Leave them in the comments!

New Tastes // American Food

Hello everyone! I hope your weekend is getting off to a good start! In todays' post I am going to be listing some traditional America Food that I would like to try! Some of this you may already be able to get here in England, but lets be honest .. the food always looks better when you see it in movies or pictures that are actually in America! *All images are from Google*

1. Corn Dogs
A Corn Dog is a hot dog sausage coated in a thick layer of cornmeal batter on a stick. They are traditionally associated with State Fairs.

2. Pancakes and Maple Syrup
Even though we have pancakes here in the UK, they never seem to turn out like the American pancakes! They just look so good! Layered pancakes topped with butter and maple syrup.

3. Baked Alaska
Baked Alaska is a dessert consisting of ice-cream and cake topped with browned meringue.

4. Snow Cone
Snow Cones consist of ice shavings that are topped with flavoured syrup. Basically the same as slushes, or slush puppies, but are made to look like ice-creams in a paper cone!

5. Mississippi Mud Pie
Mississippi Mud Pie is a chocolate based dessert pie. It contains a gooey chocolate sauce on top of a crumbly chocolate crust. It is usually served with ice-cream.

6. Twinkies
Twinkies are an American snack cake with a creamy filling.

7. Key Lime Pie
Key Lime Pie is an American dessert made of key lime juice, egg yolks and sweetened condensed milk in a pie crust sometimes topped with meringue.

8. Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin pie is a sweet dessert traditionally eaten during the fall and early winter, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas in the United States and Canada.

9. S'mores
A s'more is a roasted marshmallow and a layer of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker. They are traditional night-time campfire treats popular in the United Stares and Canada.

I know not all, in fact none, of these foods are healthy .. but they all look sooo good! If I ever go to America (which would be a dream) then I am definitely going to try some, if not all of these foods! I bet the pies are not as good to buy in a shop then they would be if someone's grandma cooked them! You cant beat home-made food and grandma's are normally the best at baking! But since I don't know anyone in America ... Mine will have to be shop bought.

If you are American or live in America or even if you have visited America and tried any of these treats ... let me know what you think of them! Is there anything else you think I should add to my list off American foods to try?

Thanks for stopping by!

Much Love..

Why I Love Summer ❤

Hi lovelies! Hope everyone's weekend is getting off to a good start?! As some of you may know (if you've read my previous posts), summer is my favourite season! And today I'm going to tell you some of the things I love about it.

The smell of cut grass..
I don't know how many of you are the same .. but when I smell cut grass, that's when I know its summer! I don't know what it is about it .. I just love the smell!

The smell of sun-cream..
I love the smell of sun-cream. It reminds me of holidays, which brings back loads of great memories! So sun-cream is definitely another summer smell I love!

Eating more fruit..
I know everyone eats fruit throughout the year, no matter what the season, but you seem to eat more in the summer! I love eating a nice fruit salad on a hot summers day. Its so refreshing and just makes you feel good.

The light mornings and longer evenings..
I always find it so much easier to get out of bed early in the summer when it's light outside compared to the dark, cold winter mornings. Also sitting in the garden until late at night just relaxing with a nice cold drink, watching the sunset. I feel more motivated and like I can get more things done in the summer!

BBQ's..
Who doesn't love a good bbq? Having all your friends round, making some food, having drinks and listening to music. I love it.

Wearing pretty dresses and skirts..
I love wearing dresses in the summer. They are nice and cool and not too tight so your not stuffy. They are comfy and just the perfect outfit for summer. You can style different dresses in so many ways with little accessories too!

The flowers and blossom..
Flowers in the summer are so colourful and just look so pretty.

Beach Days..
Days at the beach are perfect! The sand in your toes, the sea breeze keeping you cool and the sun giving you an amazing tan!

Road Trips..
Road trips with friends are the best! Sunglasses on, windows down, loud music and your best friends! I love going on road trips in the summer!

Good Vibes..
I don't know what it is .. The sun, the music, the longer days .. but everybody always seems so much happier in the summer! Everyones more chilled out and just seems to be in a better mood when the suns out! It's great! :)

So there you have it. Just a few of the reasons I love summer!

Thanks for stopping by to have a read and I hope you enjoyed this post!

What are your favourite things about summer? Let me know in the comments or find me on Twitter - @cloudsinup.

Much Love..

Liebster Award #2

Hi Lovlies. I have been lucky enough to have been nominated for the Liebster Award for a second time! Thankyou so much to Krystal-Nicole from krystalnicolekn for nominating me! Be sure to check out her blog by clicking the link! She has a beauty, fashion and lifestyle blog and I really enjoy reading her posts!

The Rules:

1. Write a post about the fact that you have been nominated, thank the wonderful person who nominated you and don't forget to leave a link to their blog!

2. Answer the eleven questions that the person who nominated you for the award has given you

3. Nominate 5-11 new bloggers, who have less than 1000 followers

4. Leave eleven questions for the bloggers you nominate to answer on their posts

5. Let the bloggers know that you have nominated them and leave a link back to your post to ensure they are familiar with how it works. Display the ward in your post and sidebar!

My answers to the questions I was asked:

1. What/who inspired you to start your blog? Before I started my blog, I used to read other peoples. I loved the fact that they had somewhere to write about what they loved! So I thought I would start my own. I am so happy I did as I enjoy it so much .. and I didn't realise how big and friendly the blogging community actually was!

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why? This is easy .. I would change my hair. I would have long, thick hair with natural beach waves! I get so jealous of people who have naturally beautiful hair. Mine is just thin and flat and I can't do anything with it! :(

3. What is your favourite quote? 'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, It's about learning to dance in the rain!'

4. Who is your biggest inspiration? I don't really have one specific inspiration. Alot of people inspire me in different ways!

5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose? I would choose ... Beverly Hills, California. Definitely.  It is such a beautiful place and I would love to live there!

6. What is your favourite colour? This literally changes all the time! At the minute I am loving pastel colours. They are really soft and pretty and the perfect colour for spring!

7. Do you prefer cats? ... Or dogs? This is such a hard question as I love them both! Cats are more independent whereas dogs are more loyal! I don't know the answer to this question. I love them both equally :)

8. What is the one item you cannot live without? My phone. I feel lost if I don't have my phone with me!

9. What is your favourite genre of music? I like all types of music .. but I think my favourite would have to be pop music. Like stuff that's in the charts. I also like summer tunes!

10. What is your dream career? To be Blogging or a Youtuber full time. I always wanted to be a model growing up, but I did nothing about that. Or a beauty therapist.

11. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Hopefully blogging full time, with my own Youtube channel. Living in my dream house and being able to drive!

Travel #3 // Amsterdam

Hi lovelies. As you may or may not know, this is my third post for my Travel Series, which goes live every Tuesday. Today I am writing about my trips to Amsterdam! I have been to Amsterdam twice, and would go again. There are so many things to do in Amsterdam, you will never be bored! Plus, it is only like a 30-40 minute flight from where I live, which is a bonus. By the time you take off and reach maximum height, your ready to start descending again to land!  The weather is pretty much the same as England because its so close, but its still a good holiday!

I cant find all the pictures from our holiday, so this post is going to be mostly about what we did there more than pictures :)

Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds is a wax museum. It was the first time I had been to a wax museum and it was amazing! How do they get them to look so much like the real people?! There was lots of famous (wax) people to look at and you could go an take your photo with them. This was a good experience and I would recommend going here if you go to Amsterdam.

Torture Museum

The Torture Museum was a bit of an odd one for us to go to, but we thought it would be interesting. So we went. Inside it is quite dark with dim lights. You follow the path way round, and along the way there are the torture devices they used to use. Some are behind glass, but most of them can be touched. Each device features an enlarged image from an old book or a newspaper article featuring the device, it's description and how it was used.  It is quite horrible looking at it all, knowing that people actually used to use them. But at the same time, it's interesting. If you are into history, I'd recommend visiting this museum.

Artis Zoo

The Amsterdam Zoo. I would definitely recommend going here! I loved it. You can get there by foot as its not that far from the city centre. They have all the animals for you to walk around and see, an aquarium, a butterfly house, a botanical garden, a planetarium, an insect house and a zoological museum. You can walk through an indoor area where there are monkeys playing and running around you. There are no cages or enclosures for them, they are literally playing where you are walking! The only thing I didn't like .. was the butterfly house. My boyfriend made me walk through it and I hated it. There are hundreds of butterfly's flying around everywhere! Don't get me wrong, some of them are beautiful colours and look pretty, but I hate insects! So this was not for me! But I still did it and was glad I did, I just wouldn't do that part again! All in all, the zoo was amazing and one of the best attractions I went to.

There are also lots of places to eat in Amsterdam and it is very good for shopping! There are plenty more museums and attractions to visit and when I go back again, I will definitely be going to the Amsterdam Dungeons! We did also go to the Sex Museum, which was definitely an experience! If you like casinos, there are a few there and like all tourist places .. there are alot of souvenir shops!

I thoroughly enjoyed both my trips to Amsterdam and if you are thinking of going, do it!

If you've been to Amsterdam before, what attractions did you see/do? If your going to Amsterdam, what attractions are you planning to visit?

Much Love..

If I am nominating you for this award, you are doing an amazing job on your blog and I thoroughly enjoy reading them! So well done!
7 Fun Facts About Me

This is an odd one, but its still a fact. I am not interesting at all and I am actually finding it really hard to think of 7 fun facts about myself! Haha!

I lived in the same house that I grew up in for 15 years and my mum still lives there now.

I tend to change my hair colour and style ALL the time! I get bored very quickly.

I tried to start my own craft business last year (2014) and completely failed as I had no idea what I was doing or how to start a business.

I can get really passionate about something and research it for months.

I researched my Family Tree and managed to get all the way back to the 1600's. I even found some living relatives that we never knew we had and got in contact with them. Hopefully we'll get to meet one day!

I love to go on activity days out and I will try anything once. Except bungee jumping or skydiving. You won't get me doing those!

I am Nominating:

Hannah from hannahjanewilliams

Sara from bloonstuff

Grace from teatoastandtelly

Bekah from thecliquesblog
