Are you a cat person or a dog person?

There is a lot of controversy about this question ... Cats or Dogs? Me personally, I love them both! As you may already know, I currently have a cat and I love him to pieces, but I also really want a puppy and hopefully soon will be getting one!

Today I am going to go through the pros and cons about having a pet dog or a pet cat.

Cats - Pro's
Cats are very independent animals, which means they can look after themselves for longer periods of time.

Cats clean themselves, which means you don't have to struggle getting your cat into the bath for a wash. (Unless, of course, your cat likes water and so enjoys having a bath like mine)

You can let a cat out and they will wander off themselves and come home when they please. So in the colder and wetter months, you don't have to worry about going out of your warm, cosy house to walk them.

They don't need constant attention.

Cats keep your home and garden free from pests.

Dogs -Pro's
Dogs are very loving animals and will become your best friend. They are great companions and are very faithful to their owner. You will always have someone who is happy to see you when you come through the door after a long day at work.

They give you an excuse to get out of the house and stay fit by walking them.

They can become very protective of you and guard your home when you are not there.

They come in all different sizes so there is something for everyone.

Dogs can learn tricks and commands.

Cats - Cons
Cats like to be high up, so you have to train them to stay off your counter tops and tables.

They can be very moody animals. They will let you stroke and pet them but will let you know when they've had enough.

Cats bond to an area rather than a person so could be a problem if you move house.

They can be let out and won't return for days, worrying you sick because you don't know where they are.

Cats, especially kittens, have very sharp claws which can be dangerous when playing and also ruin your furniture.

Dogs - Cons
Dogs bark. Which can possibly make them a problem in your neighbourhood.

They don't bury their mess, which means you have to pick it up after them.

Dogs can become aggressive towards people or other dogs which normally results in biting.

Some breeds of dog require regular trips to the groomers. Which, in time, can become a big expense.

Dogs require regular excercise. Which means taking them for walks rain or shine. If they don't get regular excercise they can become bored and destructive.

Which ever pet you choose, make sure to do research on it first so you know exactly how to look after them properly.

Which do you prefer? Are you a cat person ... Or a dog person? Or do you like both?

I'd love to hear your opinions!

Have a great day and don't forget to smile :)
